About North Victor Island Hump

The North Victor Island Hump is a rock pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Gold River, British Columbia, with depths ranging from 5 to 1,170 feet. The steep structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again in August and September, alongside Pacific Halibut through the March-to-August stretch and a mix of Canary, Copper, and Black Rockfish that stack up over the rock. Chinook Salmon move through from May to September and Coho follow from June into October, making the pinnacle a productive stop across the summer season. Anglers work Lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the rock, while Pacific Halibut respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or herring along the deeper flanks. Salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies through the exposed water above the structure.
