About Victor Island Hump

Victor Island Hump is a rock pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Gold River, British Columbia, with depths ranging from 20 to 680 feet across its structure. Lingcod hold on the rock through their peak windows of February to April and August to September, while Pacific Halibut work the surrounding bottom from March to August. Chinook Salmon move through from May to September and Coho follow from June to October, and the pinnacle also holds Rougheye Rockfish, Pacific Ocean Perch, Canary Rockfish, and Sablefish. Anglers target lingcod by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the high rock, then drop leadhead jigs with soft plastics, metal jigs, or herring into the deeper margins for halibut. Chinook and Coho respond to trolling spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring along the exposed edges where salmon transit the structure.
