Atkins Reef is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising from a mid-exposure seabed where depths range from 40 to 135 feet. The structure holds a dependable population of rockfish year-round, including copper, quillback, canary, and China rockfish, while lingcod peak from February through April and Pacific halibut move in from March through August. Anglers work the pinnacle's rock faces with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for lingcod and copper rockfish, dropping to bottom for halibut on drift jigs and herring. Chinook salmon run from May through August and coho from June through October, taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies over and around the structure. The vertical relief concentrates fish across the full depth band, making both jigging over the rock and trolling the adjacent water productive through the season.
