About Jackson Rock

Jackson Rock is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, sitting in DFO subarea 18-10 with mid-level exposure and depths running from the surface down to 85 feet. The structure holds a strong rockfish population, with Black Rockfish peaking February through October and Copper Rockfish available year-round, while Lingcod concentrate over the rock from February through April. Anglers work the pinnacle with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits for rockfish and lingcod, backing that up with bait fishing using herring, squid, or live greenling near the bottom. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and respond to trolling with anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons across the deeper edges. The vertical rock face and varied depth let anglers target the shallow ledges for rockfish and drop jigs along the base for lingcod.
