About Victoria Rock

Victoria Rock is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, within DFO subarea 17-2, rising through a mid-exposure water column that runs from 15 to 155 feet. The structure holds a steady population of bottomfish, with Lingcod peaking from February through April and Black Rockfish available across a long window from February to October, alongside Copper, China, and Blue Rockfish through the year. Anglers work the rock and its ledges with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits for Lingcod and rockfish, while bait fishing with live greenling, whole herring, or squid produces on the deeper edges. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from June to October, taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons over and around the pinnacle. The vertical relief concentrates fish along the steep faces, making depth control the main variable across the 15-to-155-foot range.
