Victoria Shoal

Victoria Shoal is an exposed rock pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through depths of 20 to 120 feet on the outer, current-swept side of the archipelago. The structure holds a strong resident population of Lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside Copper, Quillback, China, and Black Rockfish that work the rock year-round, with Black Rockfish strongest February through October. Pacific Halibut move across the surrounding bottom from March through August, while Chinook Salmon run May through August and Coho follow June through October. Anglers targeting Lingcod and rockfish jig metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits tight to the pinnacle, while halibut respond to drift jigging with metal or leadhead jigs and herring over the deeper edges. Salmon are worked with trolling spoons, hootchies, and herring through the same current lines that concentrate bait around the shoal.
