Cole Rock is an exposed pinnacle off Kyuquot, British Columbia, rising from rocky bottom on the outer coast where depths range from 5 to 80 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from May through August and Coho Salmon from June through September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the current lines that sweep the pinnacle. Pacific Halibut work the deeper edges from March through August, targeted with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, swimbaits, or metal jigs. The rocky faces and ledges hold Lingcod, best from March through May and again June through August, along with Black Rockfish through the March-to-September stretch, both responding to metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits fished tight to structure. Copper Rockfish, China Rockfish, and Pacific Cod round out the bottom fishery across the rock.
