Meyer Island sits off Kyuquot on the outer coast of Vancouver Island, marking a rock drop-off in mid-exposure water where depths fall from around 330 to 1,310 feet. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho Salmon from June to September, both worked primarily by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons along the edge, with mooching cut-plug or whole herring as a slower alternative. The rocky structure holds Lingcod, which peak in March through May and again from June to August and respond to jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or bait fishing whole herring, live greenling, and squid. Pacific Halibut range across the deeper margins with a broad March-to-August window, taken by drift jigging leadhead jigs and swimbaits or bottom bait fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, and squid. Pacific Cod, Canary Rockfish, Sablefish, and Pollock round out the mix over the same rock and drop-off terrain.
