Chemainus Range is a rock drop-off in DFO subarea 17-6 off Nanaimo, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from roughly 260 to 660 feet at a mid-exposure position. Chinook and Coho Salmon are the summer draw here, both peaking from June through September, while Lingcod runs strong from March into April and again through the May-to-August stretch. Black Rockfish hold along the structure across a long window from February to September, and the deeper contours also give up Pacific Halibut, Copper Rockfish, and Pacific Cod. Anglers work the salmon by trolling anchovy, herring, or flashers with hoochies along the break, with mooching cut-plug herring a productive alternative over the slope. For Lingcod and rockfish, jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs down along the rock face matches the vertical relief, and drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics reaches the halibut on the deeper flats.
