Holland Bank is an outer-exposed flat with mixed bottom off Nanaimo, British Columbia, sitting in DFO subarea 17-7 with depths running 180 to 280 feet. The bank holds Pacific Halibut and Lingcod alongside Pacific Cod, Sablefish, and several rockfish, with Lingcod peaking March through April and again May through August. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through from June into September, drawing trolling with anchovy, herring, flashers with hoochies, and trolling spoons across the exposed water. Anglers working the bottom rely on drift jigging for halibut with leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or herring, while lingcod respond to jigging and drifting with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the mixed structure. The deeper end of the range suits bait fishing with whole herring, octopus, or squid when drift speed allows a solid presentation on the flat.
