Inskip Rock is a rock pinnacle off Nanaimo in DFO subarea 17-13, rising through mid-exposure water with depths running from the surface down to about 90 feet. The structure holds resident groundfish year-round, including Lingcod that peak from March through April and again May through August, along with Quillback, Canary, and Copper Rockfish and Pacific Halibut working the broken bottom. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through from June into September, drawn to the current lines that form around the pinnacle. Anglers targeting Lingcod jig metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs tight to the rock, while Halibut come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or bait fishing with whole herring and octopus. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, and flashers with hoochies over and around the structure covers the summer run.
