Rock Outcrop

Pipers Lagoon Park Point is a rocky outcrop on the Nanaimo shoreline within DFO subarea 17-21, where exposed structure drops into the surrounding waters. The rock holds Rockfish year-round, while Lingcod concentrate from March through August across two peak windows. Salmon move through in summer, with both Coho and Chinook peaking from June to September. Jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits works the structure for Rockfish and Lingcod, and bait fishing with herring or squid covers the same ground. For salmon, trolling spoons, flashers, and cut plug herring cover Coho and Chinook as they pass the point.
