Sharpe Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 17-7 off Nanaimo, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from roughly 260 to 660 feet. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through the point from June to September, while Lingcod hold along the structure from March into August and Black Rockfish stay active February through September. Anglers troll anchovy, herring, and flashers with hoochies for the salmon along the edge of the drop, and switch to cut-plug herring on the mooch when fish sit deeper. Lingcod respond to metal jigs and swimbaits worked over the rock, and drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics covers the deeper contours for Pacific Halibut. Black Rockfish take metal jigs and leadhead jigs with soft plastics on the same rocky ground.
