Thrasher Rock is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Nanaimo, British Columbia, in DFO subarea 17-10, rising through waters that run from 50 to 150 feet deep. The structure holds Rockfish year-round and draws Lingcod through their spring and summer peaks in March and April and again from May through August, while Coho and Chinook Salmon move through from June to September. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod and Rockfish by jigging metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits down along the rock, dropping into the deeper edges where fish stack against the structure. Salmon are targeted by trolling flashers, spoons, and cut plug herring over and around the pinnacle during the summer run. The exposed setting and steep rock relief concentrate baitfish and hold fish tight to the high points.
