Cardigan Rocks is an exposed rock pinnacle off Port Hardy, British Columbia, rising through a water column that runs from the surface down to about 150 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from May through August, alongside Black Rockfish peaking May through September and resident Copper and Quillback Rockfish across the rocky terrain. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked over the pinnacle, while black rockfish take the same jigs and soft plastic swimbaits through the mid-water column. Pacific Halibut move through the deeper margins from March into August and come to drift fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid worked along the bottom. Chinook Salmon peak May through August and Coho build from June into September, both taken by trolling herring, spoons, and hootchies over the outer exposed water surrounding the rocks.
