George Rock is an exposed rocky pinnacle off Port Hardy, British Columbia, rising through outer coastal water where depths run from 55 to 165 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from May through August and Coho Salmon from June through September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies over and around the pinnacle. Pacific Halibut work the deeper edges from March through August, where drift fishing whole herring, octopus, or squid across the bottom covers the sand and rock margins. Lingcod concentrate on the rock itself from May through August and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs dressed with soft plastics. Canary Rockfish, Silvergray Rockfish, and Pacific Cod round out the mix along the pinnacle's rocky flanks.
