The Cattle Islands form an exposed rocky pinnacle off Port Hardy, British Columbia, where the bottom rises through depths of 10 to 120 feet in outer, open-water conditions. Chinook Salmon peak from May through August and Coho Salmon run strong from June into September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies across the structure. Pacific Halibut hold on the deeper edges from March through August, worked by drift fishing whole herring, octopus, or squid over the rock. Lingcod fill in the same May-to-August window, with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs dropped tight to the pinnacle. Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Pacific Ocean Perch round out the mix over the same broken terrain.
