STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Morgan Shoal is an exposed rock pinnacle off Port Hardy, British Columbia, rising through water that runs 60 to 180 feet on the outer coast. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod and Black Rockfish that fish best from May into late summer and early fall. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho follow from June into September, giving the shoal a long run of active months. Anglers work halibut with drift fishing over the rock using whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid, and switch to jigging with metal jigs or swimbaits for lingcod holding tight to the pinnacle. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies covers the water around the structure while black rockfish respond to jigging and casting soft plastic swimbaits.
