STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Peel Island is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Port Hardy, British Columbia, rising through depths that range from 10 to 120 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon peaking May through August and Coho Salmon peaking June through September, with Lingcod also concentrating from May to August and Pacific Halibut running strong March through August. Trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies works the salmon along the pinnacle's edges, while mooching herring or anchovy covers the same water at a slower pace. Lingcod come to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs dropped tight to the rock, and halibut respond to drift fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid across the deeper flats. Rockfish, Pacific Cod, Sablefish, and Pollock also hold on and around the structure.
