Haddington Island sits off Port McNeill in British Columbia, an outer-exposed rock drop-off where the bottom falls from roughly 330 to 1310 feet. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho Salmon from May to September, drawing anglers who troll whole herring, anchovy, trolling spoons, or flashers with hootchies along the edge, with mooching cut-plug herring a productive supporting tactic. The rock structure holds Lingcod, which peak in late winter and again through summer into early fall, and Copper Rockfish that fish best from June to September; both respond to jigging metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits worked close to the bottom. Pacific Halibut show from May to August and take drift-jigged leadhead jigs with plastic swimbaits or bottom baits like whole herring and squid over the deeper stretches of the drop-off. The exposed position and steep contour concentrate fish where the structure meets deep water, rewarding presentations kept tight to the rock.
