Weynton Passage Hump

Weynton Passage Hump is a rock pinnacle rising through mid-exposure water off Port McNeill, with fishable structure between 60 and 250 feet. Lingcod hold on the rocky high points and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs, with peak activity in February through March, June through July, and August through September. Pacific halibut work the deeper margins from May through August, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs and plastic swimbaits or metal jigs covers ground effectively. Chinook and coho salmon move through the same water from late spring into summer, with Chinook peaking May through August and coho May through September, both taken by trolling flashers with hootchies, trolling spoons, or cut-plug herring. Several rockfish species, including rougheye, canary, and darkblotched, share the pinnacle's rock and relief.
