Gordon Rock is an outer-exposed pinnacle off Port McNeill, British Columbia, where rocky structure rises through depths of 10 to 95 feet. Lingcod hold along this rock through several peaks from February to March, June to July, and August to September, while Pacific Halibut and Chinook Salmon both concentrate from May to August. Copper Rockfish stack over the pinnacle from June to September, and Coho Salmon run from May well into the fall. Anglers work the rock for lingcod and copper rockfish with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, dropping through the water column to reach fish holding tight to structure. For the salmon, trolling whole herring, spoons, and flashers with hootchies covers the exposed water above and around the pinnacle, while drift jigging with leadhead jigs and metal jigs targets halibut over the deeper rock.
