Dorcas Rock Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from an outer, exposed stretch of DFO subarea 14-2 off Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, with depths running roughly 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds a mix of resident groundfish and passing salmon, including Canary, Rougheye, and Quillback Rockfish alongside Chinook Salmon that peak from July through September and Coho Salmon that run from June through October. Chinook fishing centers on trolling with anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies, with mooching cut-plug or whole herring a workable alternative over the same rocky ground. Coho respond to trolled hootchies, spoons, small plugs, or a bait strip behind a flasher, and bucktailing near the surface is another option through the fall. Lingcod concentrate on the pinnacle from January through March, where jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs works the rock along with bait fishing whole herring, squid, or live greenling.
