Jenkins Island Hump

Jenkins Island Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from the seabed off Qualicum Beach, holding structure across a depth range of 40 to 120 feet in a mid-exposure setting. The pinnacle draws Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, and Lingcod, which peak from January through March, alongside a mix of deepwater rockfish and Sablefish. Halibut hold near the base and along the surrounding rock, where drift fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, or large jigs works the bottom as the tide moves the boat across the structure. Lingcod stack tighter to the pinnacle itself and respond to jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits worked close to the rock. Chinook Salmon move through from July into September and Coho from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies over the high ground.
