Young Point Hump is a rocky pinnacle off Qualicum Beach, rising through mid-exposure water with depths ranging from 30 to 185 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from January through March, along with Pacific Cod, Wolf Eel, and a mix of Canary, Copper, and China Rockfish across its rock bottom. Pacific Halibut work the deeper edges from March through August, while Chinook Salmon move through July into September and Coho run from June through October. Anglers targeting Lingcod jig metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over the pinnacle, and drift fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, or octopus covers the halibut along the bottom. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies works the water column above the structure.
