Palmer Bay Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Sayward, British Columbia, rising through a broad depth range from 25 to 535 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through April and again in August and September, alongside quillback rockfish present year-round and canary and copper rockfish over the same rocky ground. Pacific halibut move onto the deeper flanks from April through August, while Chinook salmon run May through August and coho build from June into October. Anglers work the pinnacle with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for lingcod and rockfish, and drop leadhead or metal jigs along the deeper edges for halibut. Salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons through the water column above the high-relief rock.
