Ripple Shoal is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Sayward, British Columbia, rising through depths of 55 to 215 feet where current sweeps baitfish across broken structure. Chinook Salmon hold here through the summer with a peak from May to August, while Pacific Halibut work the deeper rock from April to August and Lingcod concentrate over the pinnacle in late winter and again in late summer. Anglers troll anchovy, herring, and spoons for Chinook and switch to drift jigging with leadhead or metal jigs when targeting halibut on the bottom. The rock also holds Black Rockfish from June to September, best worked with metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits close to structure, and Coho Salmon move through from June into October and respond to trolled spoons and hootchies. Depth changes fast across the pinnacle, so tactics shift with the water column depending on which species is holding tight to the rock.
