STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Barney Rocks is an exposed rock pinnacle off Tofino, British Columbia, rising through water that runs 15 to 70 feet over broken structure. The pinnacle holds a strong groundfish population, with Lingcod peaking May through August, Black Rockfish May through September, and Copper Rockfish across a long window from February into October, alongside China and Quillback Rockfish. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from June to October, while Pacific Halibut concentrate March through June. Jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits works the rock for Lingcod and rockfish, and drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics reaches halibut holding along the deeper base. Salmon respond to trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons over the exposed outer edges of the structure.
