Plover Reefs is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Tofino, British Columbia, rising through depths of 40 to 120 feet where current sweeps hard structure and holds fish tight to the rock. Lingcod dominate the reef from May through August, sharing the pinnacle with Pacific Halibut that peak March through June and a mix of Copper, Black, Quillback, China, and Canary Rockfish, with Copper Rockfish active February through October and Black Rockfish concentrated May through September. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho follow from June into October. Anglers work the rock with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits for lingcod and rockfish, while drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs covers the deeper edges for halibut. Salmon come to trolled anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the exposed water above the structure.
