STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Hagen Reef is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Tofino, British Columbia, where depths run from 80 to 180 feet over broken rock structure. Lingcod hold on the reef through their May to August peak, sharing the ground with Pacific Halibut that fish best from March to June and rockfish including quillback, copper, and black. Jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits works the rock for lingcod and rockfish, while drift jigging with leadhead jigs and salmon bellies covers the deeper edges for halibut. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from June to October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the exposed water above the pinnacle. The rock relief that concentrates fish also holds strong tidal current, so drifts and jig presentations track the moving water over the structure.
