Father Charles Rock is an exposed outer-coast pinnacle off Tofino, British Columbia, rising over rocky bottom through depths of 0 to 65 feet. The rock and surrounding structure hold Lingcod, which peak from May through August, alongside Pacific Halibut best worked March through June and a mix of rockfish including Canary, Copper, and Black. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, soft plastic swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while bait fishing with whole herring, squid, or live greenling works the same rocky ledges. Copper and Black Rockfish come to jigging with metal jigs and leadhead jigs over the shallower pinnacle, and Chinook and Coho Salmon move through in summer, with Chinook peaking May through August and Coho running June into October on trolled anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons. The exposed setting and pinnacle relief concentrate fish tight to the rock, so drift jigging over the structure and working the deeper edges for halibut both pay off.
