Gowlland Rocks is an exposed rock pinnacle off Tofino, British Columbia, rising through waters that run 40 to 120 feet over hard bottom. The structure holds resident groundfish year-round, with Black Rockfish peaking May through September, Copper Rockfish from February through October, and Lingcod concentrated May through August. Anglers work the rock with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits for rockfish and lingcod, while bait fishing with whole herring or squid produces over the pinnacle's edges. Pacific Halibut move onto the surrounding bottom from March through June and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or bait fished on the bottom. Chinook Salmon run May through August and Coho from June through October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the exposed outer water.
