STRUCTURE

Outer Exposed

Rassier Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Tofino, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away from roughly 260 to 660 feet. The steep structure holds Pacific halibut, which peak from March through June, alongside lingcod that come on strong from May through August. Anglers work drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs for halibut across the deeper edges, while jigging metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits along the rock produces lingcod and copper rockfish, the latter active from February through October. Chinook salmon move through from May to August and coho from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons over the drop. Bottom fishing whole herring, salmon heads, or squid on the rock offers a supporting approach for halibut and rockfish alike.
