Beg Islands sits off Ucluelet on British Columbia's outer exposed coast, a rocky drop-off where the bottom falls away from roughly 330 to 1310 feet. Chinook Salmon run strongest from May through August and Coho from May into September, with both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons over the deep structure. Lingcod hold on the rock and peak from March through May, responding to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked near the bottom. Pacific Halibut move through from April to August and take drift-jigged leadhead jigs with soft plastics, metal jigs, or salmon belly along the same drop. Copper Rockfish stay catchable year-round on the rocky terrain, where jigging with metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits produces over the ledges.
