Great Bear Rock is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, rising through water that runs from 60 to 180 feet deep. The structure holds Quillback Rockfish year-round alongside Rougheye and Redstripe Rockfish, with Lingcod concentrating from March through May over the same rock. Anglers work jigs and leadhead swimbaits along the pinnacle for rockfish and lingcod, while bottom fishing with herring, squid, or cut bait covers the deeper edges. From April through August the surrounding depths give up Pacific Halibut, taken by drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or spreader bar rigs baited with herring and salmon belly. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from May into September, both targeted by trolling anchovy, herring, and spoons across the exposed water above the reef.
