The hump 0.8 km southeast of Janson Island is a rocky pinnacle rising through outer-exposed water off Ucluelet, with depths running from 25 to 115 feet. Its structure draws Pacific Halibut, which peak from April through August, alongside Lingcod that hold strongest from March into May and resident Copper Rockfish and Canary Rockfish across the year. Drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics works the halibut over the rock, while metal jigs and swimbaits reach the lingcod and rockfish tucked against the pinnacle. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from May into September, taken by trolling anchovy, herring, and hootchies over the exposed edges. The rise from deep water to the pinnacle crown concentrates fish where current runs across the rock.
