Hump 1.0 km NW of Hornby Rock is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, rising through water that runs 100 to 285 feet deep. The structure draws Chinook Salmon (peak May–Aug) and Coho Salmon (peak May–Sep) through the summer, while Lingcod hold on the rock earlier in the year (peak Mar–May) and Pacific Halibut work the surrounding bottom (peak Apr–Aug). Black Rockfish (peak May–Sep) stack near the high points, with Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Cabezon also present over the same terrain. Trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons covers the salmon along the pinnacle edges, and mooching cut-plug herring works the same fish when they hold tight to structure. For bottom species, drift jigging metal jigs and leadhead jigs with soft plastics reaches the Lingcod and Halibut through the deeper end of the range, and jigging or bait fishing herring and squid over the rock takes the rockfish.
