STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Kirby Rock is an exposed pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, where rock structure rises through a water column that runs from the surface down to roughly 130 feet. The pinnacle holds lingcod, which peak from March through May, alongside Copper and Quillback Rockfish that hold on the rock year-round. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while the same jigging approach with metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits works the structure for both rockfish species. Pacific Halibut move onto the deeper margins from April through August and take drift-jigged leadhead jigs with soft plastics or metal jigs, and Chinook and Coho Salmon pass through from May onward and hold on trolled anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons. The outer-exposed position and hard-bottom relief concentrate fish across the full depth range, from the shallow crown down to the surrounding rock.
