Richard Rock is an exposed offshore pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, where rocky structure rises from depths reaching 130 feet on the outer coast. The rock and its surrounding drop-offs hold Pacific Halibut, which peak from April through August, alongside Lingcod that fish strongest from March through May. Black Rockfish concentrate over the pinnacle from May through September, while Chinook Salmon move through the area between May and August and Coho Salmon run from May into September. Anglers work the deeper rock with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs for halibut, and target lingcod and rockfish by jigging swimbaits and metal jigs tight to the structure. Salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons through the water column over the pinnacle.
