Outer Exposed

Sargison Bank is an outer-exposed flat off Ucluelet, British Columbia, where mixed bottom holds in water running 100 to 180 feet deep. The bank produces Pacific halibut from April through August, with Chinook salmon peaking May through August and coho salmon running May through September. Halibut hold over the mixed bottom here, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs covers the flat, while bottom bait fishing with whole herring, salmon heads, or octopus works the same depths. Salmon fishing centers on trolling anchovy, herring, or trolling spoons through the water column, with mooching cut-plug herring a productive alternative on the tide. English sole, petrale sole, Pacific cod, walleye pollock, and Pacific whiting also share the mixed ground across the depth range.
