Akre Rocks is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle off Winter Harbour, British Columbia, rising through depths that range from 40 to 180 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again from June through August, alongside Pacific Halibut that stack up between May and August. Chinook Salmon run strong from April through August and Coho from May through September, while Rougheye, Canary, and Copper Rockfish hold along the rock year-round. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal and leadhead jigs tipped with soft plastics, or drop whole herring and squid against the structure, and drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits reaches Halibut across the deeper broken bottom. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, and spoons over the exposed water covers Chinook and Coho, with mooching cut-plug herring a workable option when fish sit tight to the rock.
