Flint Rock is an outer-exposed pinnacle off Winter Harbour on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island, rising over rock bottom through depths of 10 to 50 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again from June through August, alongside Black Rockfish that concentrate from May through September and a supporting cast of Blue and Copper Rockfish. Pacific Halibut move onto the surrounding grounds from May through August, while Chinook Salmon run April through August and Coho follow from May through September. Anglers working the rock target Lingcod and Black Rockfish by jigging metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits tight to the pinnacle, and drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits covers the deeper edges for Halibut. Salmon are taken on the troll here, running anchovy, herring, hoochies, and trolling spoons across the exposed water above the structure.
