STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Outer Exposed

Hunt Islets is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Winter Harbour, British Columbia, where the bottom falls through 260 to 660 feet of water. The deep structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from May through August, alongside Lingcod that run strong in February through April and again from June through August, plus resident Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Chilipepper. Halibut hold along the base of the drop-off, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs, swimbaits, or metal jigs covers the deep contour, while bottom bait fishing with herring, salmon bellies, or octopus works the same rock. Lingcod come to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs rigged with soft plastics, or swimbaits over the harder structure, and bait fishing with whole herring or live greenling produces on the same ground. Chinook Salmon move through from April to August and Coho from May to September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hoochies, or spoons across the exposed water above the drop.
