Cape Parkins is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Winter Harbour, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from May through August, and Lingcod, which run strong in February through April and again from June through August. Anglers work the deeper water with drift jigging for halibut using leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and metal jigs, while bottom bait fishing with herring, salmon bellies, or octopus covers the same rocky edges. Lingcod hold tight to the rock along the drop-off, taking metal jigs and leadhead jigs with soft plastics as well as whole herring or live greenling fished on the bottom. The site also produces Chinook Salmon from April through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies over the exposed ground, alongside resident rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish.
