STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

Kains Island sits off Winter Harbour on the outer, exposed coast of British Columbia, where a rock pinnacle rises through depths ranging from 5 to 95 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut through the May to August peak and Lingcod across its winter run of February to April and again from June to August. Chinook Salmon move through from April to August and Coho follow from May to September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hoochies along the exposed edges. Halibut respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and metal jigs over the rock, while Lingcod come to metal jigs and leadhead jigs with soft plastics worked close to the pinnacle. The site also produces Sablefish, Pacific Cod, and several rockfish species, including Darkblotched, Rougheye, and Yellowmouth, over the deeper rock.
