About Hazard Point

Hazard Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Winter Harbour, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. The steep structure holds Chinook Salmon through their April to August peak and Coho Salmon from May into September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hoochies, and spoons along the edge. Lingcod concentrate on the rock in the February to April and June to August windows, worked with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits over the structure. Pacific Halibut move onto the drop-off from May through August and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits across the deeper flats below the break. Darkblotched and Yellowmouth Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish also occupy the deeper end of the profile.
