Ives Islet is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Winter Harbour, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from roughly 330 feet into water past 1,300 feet. The steep structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from April through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, with both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hoochies, and spoons along the edge, or by mooching cut-plug and whole herring closer to the wall. Pacific Halibut work the deeper flats and slopes from May through August, targeted with drift jigging using leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and metal jigs, or bottom bait fishing with herring, octopus, and salmon bellies. Lingcod hold tight to the rock and peak from February through April and again from June through August, responding to jigging with metal and leadhead jigs or bait fishing with whole herring, live greenling, and squid. The exposed position and hard bottom also bring up Pacific Ocean Perch, Canary Rockfish, and Sablefish from the depths below.
