Bull Rock is an outer-exposed sand flat off Fort Bragg, California, running 15 to 50 feet deep in open, wave-swept water. The flat holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from April through September, alongside a steady rockfish population including Black Rockfish (best March–June and July–August) and Blue Rockfish (March–September), with Lingcod concentrating in January–February and again in August–September. Chinook here respond to trolling anchovies, herring, spoons, and hoochies across the open flat, while mooching whole anchovies or herring works the same fish. Over the sand and near structure, jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits takes both Black Rockfish and Lingcod, and shrimp fly rigs tipped with squid strips draw Blue Rockfish through the water column. Cabezon (peak March–May and September–October) come on bottom fishing with squid, shrimp, and crab across the same shallow terrain.
