STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Outer Exposed

Saddle Point sits off Fort Bragg, California, where an outer-exposed rock drop-off falls through depths of 40 to 180 feet. Chinook Salmon run strongest from April through September, overlapping with peak Rockfish action across the same months, while Lingcod hold on the structure through January and February and again from August into September. Pacific Halibut move through from March to August, and Cabezon feed over the rock in spring and fall. Anglers work the drop-off for Rockfish with bottom fishing using shrimp flies, squid strips, and metal jigs, and drop metal jigs or swimbaits along the rock edges for Lingcod. Chinook come to trolled anchovies, herring, and spoons through the upper water column while bottom species stay tight to the deeper rock.
