About Pescadero Point
Pescadero Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Half Moon Bay, where the bottom falls from 260 to 660 feet along a structured slope. Chinook Salmon run the water column from March through August, with Pacific Halibut moving in from April to September and Lingcod peaking in February and March before a second stretch from August to October. Black Rockfish hold over the rock through spring and summer, peaking in March and again from May to September, while Cabezon feed close to the bottom in April and May and again from July to October. Trolling anchovies, flashers, and hoochies covers the salmon along the drop, and mooching whole anchovies works the same edge. Over the rock, jigging metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits takes Lingcod and Black Rockfish, while bottom fishing squid and cut bait targets Cabezon on the structure below.
